Prince (passenger) and a Candidate  (posing) and "new" old tires from Dirkes Used Auto Parts and Junk Yard: in the 2nd District

Once again, feeling like a junk yard dog, here's another unpublished letter to the AC PRESS

NOT  PUBLISHED.  (distributed now, by stein for congress 2010)

This past Monday Dan Walsh reported that Congressman Frank Lobiondo prefers direct phone contact with his constituents, (rather then town hall meetings preferred by just about every other representative) in response to citizen outrage across the country over the direction of health care reform.

As one of four- very much ignored independent candidates who challenged Mr. Lobiondo last year- ( I consider us to be early teabaggers)- I’d prefer to leave well enough alone, except that Mr. Walsh unnecessarily referenced the congressman’s debate history last fall, and gave what I know to be an inaccurate description.

And…… maybe it’s because of my unique vantage point, I also notice that Mr. Walsh is still portraying the Congressman as some kind of maverick, just like last year when I felt he was  touting - rather then just reporting- the congressman’s hold out position against new drilling off the Atlantic coast line ((until the tide turned (har, har)); or how he defied his party leadership a second time- again last year- by voting early and often, against any rescue package for distressed homeowners- again-early in the economic downturn.  Or….. just last week when Mr. Walsh reported that the Congressman rarely debates opponents in his congressional re-election races.

That’s where it gets personal Mr. Walsh.  Mr. Lobiondo reluctantly attended last falls first debate-  a last second appearance after the DOW fell close to 1000 points the day before- and there where 6 of us at that debate, why leave the impression, like you did on Monday, that the congressman only debated his Democratic opponent last fall?  The 2nd debate, the one the Atlantic City Press sponsored, only included the two- there you were accurate, and it's one possible explanation for your error.  To jog your memory a little further Mr. Walsh; Mr. Lobiondo, in my opinion, lost the first debate to a 30 year old Green Party candidate, he got a boost, in that 2nd un-inclusive debate, from a “packed” house of union shills- whooping it up, ironically, for Lobiondo-a Republican- not the Democratic Mr. Kurkowski.  As for the 3rd debate- the league of women voters debate that the A.C Press just barely covered the next night in Cape May Courthouse- some might argue I won that one.

You might have reported as much as the designated reporter of last years campaign, had you bothered to attend that night.  The coverage of the  3rd debate (insignificant in the AC Press's opinion?), was left to a cub reporter from the Cape May area and was buried in Section B, I think.  To tell you the truth I could only find it in the on line edition, but you had to go through several links to get there.

But what about the congressman’s vaunted 2 to 3 hours a day talking privately to his constituents about their anger over health care reform- as you reported on Monday?  Three years ago I called the Congressman’s office after a lying- cheating health insurance company welched on reimbursing us, and our care givers, for about $7000 dollars of first time claims on an expensive policy we purchased.

The Congressman never called me back to discuss- or learn a little what goes on in the outside world.  Instead his office gave me a phone #, yes a phone # to the State of NJ Banking and Insurance division.  Thank you congressman, and I’m delighted to learn you’re just barely more responsive in 2009 then you were in 07…..now you take personal phone calls on the issue.   Do you talk to the “mad as hell not going to take it anymore," call ins, the so-so mad ones, or mostly to supporters?  That question wasn't answered in the article.

Call me once in while Mr. Walsh, these days I’m madder then ever at politicians- and I’m an unknown candidate once again, this time for the position of Governor* in the state of New Jersey, running out of the 2nd district, or didn’t you know that?  I'm afraid you did.

* From the candidate: In the latest Rasmussen poll I was pulling .000000% of the vote, with 4 weeks to go I was off the charts.........
